alana jessica martin
is the next big thing.
she is a transexual actress (sag-aftra), model,
singer-songwriter, & nightlife personality
born and raised in new york city.
her star began to rise in 2018 when, after dropping out of a renowned theatre program due to mistreatment related to her transition, she won a beauty pageant granting her
her first modeling contract with trans models nyc and the title of miss gorg 2018.
she was also voted miss congeniality by her fellow contestants.
later that spring, on the day she was supposed to graduate from college, alana got the call that she was to be cast in ryan murphy’s pose, playing a prostitute. not only would alana come to work on all three seasons of the FX hit, but this call shaped her career; she has since portrayed every variety of sex worker you could think of —- stripper, porn star, escort, dominatrix, mistress, prostitute, phone sex operator… and the list goes on. on television she’s been on hits like american horror story, the deuce, kaleidoscope, betty, and many crime shows (law & order/svu/organized crime, blue bloods, fbi, etc);
. on film, most notably she played a stripper in stephen king’s mr. harrigan’s phone.
she has also enjoyed tamer roles on cult favorites and just like that! and the reboot of gossip girl. however, alana looks forward to continuing to bring heart and soul to the stories of sex workers, and takes much pride in representing the long disrespected community of valuable, beautiful human beings to which she has belonged herself.
on stage, alana originated the role of virginia in howard emmanuel’s don’t quote me, produced by roma torre; though it never made it to opening night, other cast members included remarkable talents like rachel york, kate baldwin, jayne houdyshell, and more. she has also been seen twice in the fresh fruit festival, first as plum in lovebird jamboree, then as isabelle in the hit sassafrass and the captain, which won for best production after an extended run; both works were written by sarah elisabeth brown.
in modeling, alana got her first break as a spokesgirl for zhe by karyn elizabeth, an nyc lingerie brand for trans women. zhe was the first label of its kind to show at the curve convention, the highest level intimates trade show in the world. the brand currently retails at cosabella, for which they were the first of their kind as well. karyn, zhe’s designer, introduced alana to khrystyana kazakova who cast her in an editorial comprised of all transexual models/actresses/artists and landed her in glamour uk, marie claire fr, refinery29, and more. she also recently walked for the twink next door.
in 2020 during the black lives matter uprising, alana joined several other trans activists including qween jean, iman le caire, members of STARR and more for an action broadcast by GLAAD highlighting members of the black trans community who had been lost to brutality. it was there she met ryan mcginley, who would frequently snap the protests, an image from which saw alana appear in aperture magazine alongside her friend, bushwick mainstay maxwell vice. ryan would soon after cast alana in a campaign for altu by altuzarra, which gave her her first stint in vogue; she shot again with him for courreges in double magazine. ryan mcginley is also the only photographer who has shot alana fully nude.
with activism always close to her heart, alana also earned her first principal role in a SAG commercial project by milisava tertovich , an industrial campaign for a revolutionary forthcoming medication to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS.
in her free time, alana is hard at work crafting her debut music release; she loves to sing and write music and is currently workshopping with producers. she spends nights as a bottle/shot girl at le bain and the boom boom room. the rest of her life is dedicated to her chihuahua-pug named azzedine alaïa, her friends, her obsession with
pamela anderson & pilates, and
the eternal quest for love and romance.
